| 24 hour ECG Holter monitoring |
|
ECG Holter monitoring is the constant reading of the heart rate and rhythm over a 24-hour or longer period, on an ambulatory basis. The purpose of Holter monitoring is to search for an evidence of the patent's cardiac problems while he/she is resuming normal activities in his/her natural environment.
It is performed by an ambulatory electrocardiography device commonly known as ECG Holter monitor which is battery-powered and has a solid state or a memory card to store the recorded electrical activity of the heart. Meditech product range includes two instruments designed and developed for Holter monitoring: CardioMera, a full disclosure ECG monitor and card(x)plore, a multifunctional device that performs simultaneous 24-hour ECG and blood pressure monitoring. Interested in Holter monitoring? Get an offer for a device now! Generally, Holter monitoring will provide useful information for identifying occasional heart disturbances which are not recognized by resting electrocardiogram test. Easily performed by medical professionals, it is the best way of screening cardiac arrhythmias and ischaemic heart disease. Holter monitoring is also used to determine how the heart responds to normal activity after a heart attack or when starting a new heart medicine. Cardiac arrhythmias are disorders of the regular rhythmic beating of the heart. They are common and may occur in a healthy heart and be of minimal consequence. But they may also indicate a serious problem and lead to congestive heart failure, coronary artery and heart disease, stroke or sudden cardiac death. Our goal is to help the public and health care professionals by introducing a cost-effective tool in screening large number of patients and ultimately reduce disability and death caused by these illnesses. Meditech CardioMera is a very comfortable device for full-disclosure ECG holter monitoring, due to its light weight and small size. The system can record and store up to 5 channels of ECG signals and for ultimate storage quality the data are stored on MMC/SD flash card to avoid data loss, typical of older generation holters. Recorded data are processed with CardioVisions, a powerful integrated database, display, analysis and report generating software package. This versatile software is enabled to do beat-by-beat annotation, customized by the user, providing successful detection of: Paroxysmal supra ventricular tachycardia Ventricular tachycardia Atrial fibrillation Ventricular fibrillation Bradycardia Ischaemic heart disease refers to cardiac ischaemia, a condition caused by the lack of blood flow and oxygen to the heart muscle. If ischemia is severe or lasts too long, it can cause a heart attack (myocardial infarction) and can lead to heart tissue death. In most cases, a temporary blood shortage to the heart causes the pain of angina pectoris. But in other cases, there is no pain. These cases are called silent ischemia. After the monitoring session, dara are processed by the CardioVisions software, which shows each heart beat recorded during the period of 24-48 hours and it identifies any arrhytmia or changes in the ST segment. The analysis of changes in the ST segment can provide valuable information for diagnosing silent (non-symptomatic) ischemia. Meditech card(x)plore is a powerful multifunctional ambulatory diagnostic device, recommended for diagnosing complex blood-pressure related cardiovascular risk profile such as those suffering from non-symptomatic ischemia. Featuring the recording and storage of data gained with 3-channel ECG holter monitoring, it is simultaneously performing full ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. Automatic event detection with adjustable preset limits ensures that corresponding blood pressure values are recorded during (silent) ischaemic events, high or low heart rates and syncopal episodes. Optional activity and body position monitoring with two-axis acceleration sensor will provide additional data for further fine-tune analysis. |
